(Adds statement by Sechin in headline, lede, paragraph 2)
MOSCOW, Apr 12 (PRIME) -- Russian oil company Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin has confirmed his accusations against former Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev during a non-public testimony in the Moscow City Court on Thursday, Sechin said in broadcast of television channel Rossiya 24
“During the court hearing, I confirmed my position that Ulyukayev demanded illegal reward, he defined the sum, he arrived to receive it, and then he left,” Sechin said.
In December 2017, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow found Ulyukayev guilty of receiving a U.S. $2 million bribe for a positive outlook on privatization of oil company Bashneft by Rosneft. Ulyukayev was sentenced to eight years in prison and a 130 million ruble fine.
Ulyukayev pleaded not guilty and said it was a setup organized by Sechin and the Federal Security Service.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for President Vladimir Putin, said on Thursday regrading Sechin’s testimony that the Kremlin is not involved in the situation. “It has nothing to do with the Kremlin… I possess no information about this whole case,” he said.
